HISTORY

Villa Hesnæs was designed in 1897 by architect Gotfred Tvede for the Classenske Fideicommis as the residence of the local forest ranger.

Beautifully proportioned and distinctive to the area, the villa is a remarkable example of the region’s architectural heritage.

Over the past two years, the villa has undergone a careful and sensitive restoration. Wherever possible, original features have been preserved — from the windows and doors to the interior details that give the house its character.

Rather than recreating the villa exactly as it once was, we have shaped it into a guest house that honours the spirit of its past while gently weaving itself into the present.

We have brought together ideas, art, architecture, design, aesthetics, food, nature, and wellbeing, creating a place without formality.

Villa Hesnæs is meant to be somewhere you’ll want to return to again and again — a villa where everyone feels at home, yet pleasantly away from home.
